Environmental Law and ESGEnvironmental, Social and Governance

I specialise in environmental law and help companies and organisations understand the impact of European sustainability regulations on their operations and supply chains.

When European regulations impact your operations

EUDREuropean Union Deforestation Regulation, CSDDDCorporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, CSRDCorporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. European sustainability requirements are advancing rapidly and affect anyone who produces, exports or supplies goods to the European Union, even from Brazil. Whether a producer exports timber or other commodities, they are now all accountable for what happens within their supply chain.

The challenge lies in linking the text of the European regulations to the reality of each operation. My experience in environmental law, research and fieldwork helps to translate these requirements into useful information for your company.

What Sets Me Apart

I don't examine the EUDREuropean Union Deforestation Regulation from afar. I went to the Amazon to study it.

My PhD at NOVA Lisbon focused on Brazilian forestry policy and the European Union’s environmental policies. I went into the field in the Amazon to interview producers, companies, communities and public bodies to understand how the new European requirements work in practice.

It is the difference between knowing the regulations and knowing the terrain where they are applied. This scientific foundation underpins the technical reports, studies and support I provide to companies and organisations.
